Incontinence
Brought on as a side effect of another condition, incontinence is not uncommon. In the United States, more than thirteen million people are estimated to experience a form of incontinence – 85% of them women.
While it can be caused by a range of conditions – including pregnancy, childbirth, pelvic surgery, spinal injury, and cognitive degeneration such as Alzheimer’s disease – incontinence can cause discomfort and embarrassment, frequently preventing sufferers from seeking their doctor’s help. Often, however, incontinence can benefit from treatment, and because it may indicate the presence of a serious health condition, it should always be brought to your doctor’s attention.
