This weekend, our little crew will celebrate the July 4th holiday with friends and neighbors enjoying all things red, white and blue. Every year, I do my best to pull together a sort of festive themed offering. This year, in scouring for updated recipes, I found some fun options to explore with the kiddos.
A trifle dish is always a good option with littles – you simply cannot mess up this dessert. You can alter the ingredients for dietary needs or preferences very easily. The key is a cake base, whipped cream or pudding center, and fruit topping – repeated! Crumbles make for a beautiful and tasty treat – also very difficult to mess up (an important quality for this novice baker over here!). And of course, a beautifully vibrant cake makes for quite the show piece.
